Terms of service

A binding agreement between LexCases and the people who use it.

Research tool, not legal advice

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between Radwan Hajjar trading as LexCases AI (“LexCases”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and the individual or organisation that creates an account or uses the LexCases platform (the “Customer”, “you”, or “your”).

By accessing or using any LexCases Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

  1. Eligibility & account responsibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use LexCases. Users under 18 should review these Terms with a parent or guardian. If you create an account on behalf of a law firm, university, or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to do so and that the organisation accepts these Terms.

You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@lexcases.ai if you suspect unauthorised access.

  2. The LexCases service

LexCases is a legal study and research platform that surfaces AI-generated summaries, holdings, and citations of real judicial decisions, each checked before it is shown (the "Services"). It supports 28 jurisdictions, which are treated equally. The platform includes prompt-based search, jurisdiction and subject filtering, case comparison, a personal research library (your saved cases and notes), interactive doctrine timelines that show how an area of law developed over time, module-based study collections, and the Question Advisor, which helps you understand how to approach an exam-style question without writing the answer for you.

LexCases is a research aid. It is not a substitute for professional legal advice or for reading the underlying authorities in full. The summaries and holdings produced by LexCases are descriptive; we do not warrant that every line is free of error. Always consult the official report before relying on a holding in court, in academic submissions, or in client work.

Features may vary by plan, and certain features may only be available under a separate written agreement.

  3. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not use the Services for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes; attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the platform; bypass plan limits, rate limits, or security controls; resell or redistribute case-law results in bulk; use LexCases output to train competing case-law products; or use automated bots or tools that negatively affect system performance or stability.

No unauthorised practice of law. You will not use LexCases to engage in the unauthorised practice of law in any jurisdiction. You will not hold LexCases or its output out to third parties (including clients, students, supervisors, examiners, or members of the public) as legal advice from a qualified lawyer, and you will not present LexCases-generated summaries, case-law analysis, or quotes as your own legal opinion. If you are a qualified lawyer, your professional, regulatory, and supervisory obligations to your clients and to your professional body remain entirely your own.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules or endanger platform integrity.

  4. Plans, billing, renewals & EU consumer rights

LexCases offers a Free plan and the LexCases Pro subscription. The Free plan includes 20 tokens per week, with a search costing 3 tokens, and up to 5 ranked authorities per search, including key holdings, treatment flags, and up to three quotes per case. LexCases Pro adds unlimited searches, Full reasoning on every search (larger authority sets, each authority reasoned in full and argued both ways), advanced multi-case comparison with conflict detection, exports, personalised Foundations rebuilt from your search history, and the personalisation profile that tailors results to your role, jurisdiction, and area of focus. LexCases Pro is billed at the price displayed on the Pricing page (currently €18.99 per month or €189.99 per year, a saving of €37 against twelve months of monthly billing) and renews automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Every new monthly Pro subscription begins with a one week free trial; no charge is taken during the trial and you may cancel at any time before the trial ends without being billed. The annual plan is charged in full at sign up and does not include a free trial.

Billing is handled through secure third-party processors such as Stripe. By subscribing or placing an order for a paid plan, you authorise LexCases to charge your chosen payment method for recurring fees and applicable taxes, and you agree that you have read and accept these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers, LexCases Pro). If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, you have a right to withdraw from a LexCases Pro subscription within fourteen (14) days under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) as transposed into Irish law. The one week free trial sits inside that window: you may cancel at any point before the trial ends and you will not be charged. The first paid search you run after the trial concludes counts as an express request for immediate performance of digital content, and at the moment of that first paid search you lose the right of withdrawal in line with Article 16(m) of the Directive. We display a clear notice of this loss before you make the purchase. If you have not run a paid search and the fourteen day window is still open, email support@lexcases.ai and we will refund the most recent payment within fourteen days of receiving your notice.

Outside the withdrawal window. After the fourteen-day window for LexCases Pro has expired, we do not offer general goodwill refunds. Refunds remain available where required by law (for example, a verified technical fault that prevented LexCases from delivering the Services, or a duplicate or unauthorised charge); contact support@lexcases.ai with the details and we will resolve it.

Cancellation and renewal. You can cancel LexCases Pro at any time from the Account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and stops future renewals. Cancelling does not by itself trigger a refund of an in-period payment unless one of the rights above applies.

Chargebacks. Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute without first contacting us is a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate suspension or termination. The right of withdrawal and other statutory consumer rights remain available regardless of this provision; this section concerns only the order in which we and you address billing questions.

Full refund policy: see the Refunds page for the complete consumer-facing summary, including step-by-step instructions for exercising the rights set out above.

  5. Your content & search history

You retain full ownership of any text you type into LexCases ("User Content"). By using the Services, you grant LexCases a limited licence to process your prompts and your search history solely for providing and improving the Services, fixing technical issues or enforcing usage limits, and responding to support requests initiated by you.

LexCases does not ask for, and does not want, the personal details of your clients. You agree not to paste real client names, file numbers, or other identifying information into the search box. Any such content remains your responsibility and will be stored alongside your search history.

You may delete individual searches at any time, and you may request full account deletion from the Account settings page.

  6. Intellectual property

LexCases owns the platform, software, branding, prompt designs, and all underlying intellectual property. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Services in accordance with these Terms.

Case-law texts and judicial decisions surfaced by LexCases remain in the public domain or under the copyright of their respective courts, reporters, and publishers. LexCases holds no licence to any of them. Summaries and editorial annotations produced by LexCases are licensed to you for personal study, professional research, and citation; you may not resell them, redistribute them in bulk, or create derivative case-law products from them without permission.

  7. Third-party services

LexCases integrates with third-party tools including Clerk for authentication, Stripe for payments, and OpenAI for the AI that generates and checks case results. LexCases does not licence or integrate a case-law database. These third parties operate under their own terms and policies. The Privacy Policy lists each provider and the data it receives.

LexCases is not responsible for third-party service failures or misuse outside of our control.

  8. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free performance, or that any specific case will appear in your results.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. Nothing in LexCases constitutes legal advice, and no lawyer-client relationship is created by your use of the platform.

  9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Radwan Hajjar trading as LexCases AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the Services, including loss of data, loss of profits, missed deadlines, or outcomes resulting from reliance on summaries produced by the platform.

Our total liability to you in any 12-month period will not exceed the total fees you paid to LexCases during that period, or €100 if you are on the Free plan.

  10. Suspension & termination

You may stop using LexCases at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, abuse the Services, or fail to pay required fees.

Upon termination, certain data may no longer be accessible. See our Privacy Policy for details on retention and deletion.

  11. Governing law & dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer-protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.

Before initiating arbitration or litigation, both parties agree to attempt good-faith informal resolution. You can start that process by writing to support@lexcases.ai.

Most disputes will be resolved through individual binding arbitration unless prohibited by law. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of account creation by sending written notice to support@lexcases.ai.

If arbitration applies, both parties waive any right to a class action or jury trial, where such waivers are permitted.

  12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least thirty (30) days before they take effect, and will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Non-material changes (typo fixes, broken-link repairs, clarifications that do not affect your rights) may take effect immediately and will be noted by an updated "Last updated" date.

If you continue to use the Services after the thirty-day notice period has elapsed, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept the updated Terms, you may cancel your account before they take effect; cancellation prevents the new Terms from binding you and stops further charges, and the EU consumer-rights provisions above continue to govern any in-period refund question.
